School Meals

School meals are provided by Bury Council's Catering Service (please see the current 3-week menu below)

With Bury Catering children get two courses, a main course with appropriate accompaniments and a dessert, and two sides i.e. a trip to a salad bar and bread, with a drink of chilled water for the price of a school meal. 

  • The main courses each day include 3-4 choices
  • A vegetarian, jacket potato and sandwich option is always provided.
  • Vegan, gluten free and dairy free choice can be provided along with other special diets when requested in advance. All special diets are provided in line with allergen legislation.
  • The desserts each day include 3 choices; main dessert (cake, biscuit, pudding), fresh fruit and organic yoghurt. All the desserts on the core menu are vegetarian.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 get a free meal at lunchtime, under the government's Infant Free School Meals scheme.  You do not have to apply for these. But if your child is in a Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 group and you get one of the qualifying incomes shown it will help the school if you make a claim for free school meals, as they can get extra funding.

From year 3 onwards free school meals are only available if you get one of the following:

  • Universal Credit - and your earned income is less than £7,400 a year, after tax and not including any benefits
  • Income Support
  • income-based Job Seekers Allowance
  • income-related Employment Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit, providing you are do not get Working Tax Credit, and your annual gross income is less than £16,190
  • guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
